Goldeneye - our brief visit
a 27th Wedding Anniversary present to ourselves
Went to Goldeneye in Orchabessa, Jamaica for a few days for our 27th wedding anniversary - it’s a relaxing oasis of how a travel getaway should be. Hope Chris Blackwell doesn’t ever sell or change it.
No photos of food or meals (excellent they were if you want to know) as we left our mobiles in the room for dining - we hate people using mobiles at the table, really ignorant behaviour. We talk to each other and those with us. No TV in the dining room at home either.
Once you get past security as your name is on the list and go through the gate then you see the grounds and drive down the winding trail to reception:
And see the sign:
But reception is still hidden down a little trail. Once there you can see the hotel, just:
Once checked in you enter the hotel properly:
Then a walk across the hotel to the beach hut we booked - the cheapest available to be honest, don’t need any more:
Some general views of the beaches, Bizot Bar, Button beach and bar/BBQ
The Bizot Bar - great fried fish sandwich and breakfast waffles. No photo of main restaurant though as we never took our mobiles.
Behind this in the trees is the Ian Fleming house itself -you can rent it for about $30K a night if you want.
The Eye Pool.
And yes it was as empty as you see it, the days we were there there was maybe 15 people in total staying.
Staff were enjoying the peace and quiet as well as the whole place had been taken from the previous 4 days by a millionaire from California for his birthday party and it was a bit hectic from lunch until bars closed when last guest went to bed.
Now to spend 5 years saving up to go again - if I win the lottery it will be private jet into Ian Fleming International Airport 3 miles up the road.

Beautiful! My first thought was where are the humans? Ideal spot if it could always be so secluded.
Wow that’s stunning, the water looks very inviting. So agree with you about taking photos of food, it’s the height of bad manners. Happy anniversary by the way.
